New crossword types and features

We are excited to announce the release of new crossword types and features in Linguno's crossword section. These updates are geared towards intermediate and advanced users. Here are the details:

New Crossword Types

  • Monolingual Crosswords

    • All clues are presented in the same language as the crossword itself, rather than using English as a default.
    • Currently only available in Spanish, but we'll be adding other languages later.
    • Clues may include straightforward descriptions, synonyms, cultural references, and trivia. They can also be intentionally vague to challenge solvers.
    • To learn even more new words, you can click on unfamiliar words in the clues to look them up in the dictionary.
    • A new crossword will be released every day for the following levels: A2, B1, B2, C1-C2, and a giant (21 x 21) A2-B2 crossword.
  • Giant Crosswords (21 x 21)
    • These crosswords include longer words that cannot fit into the standard 15 x 15 size.
    • The giant level crossword contains words from levels A1-B2.
    • The giant conjugation crossword can include any verb form in any tense, providing plenty of variety.

New Features

  • Small Screen Compatibility
    • Crosswords are now accessible on all mobile devices, regardless of screen size.
    • A new moving clue box has been added, allowing you to comfortably solve crosswords even on tiny screens.
  • Saving Your Progress
    • Your progress will now be automatically saved to your browser's local storage after every word you enter.
    • However, if you wish to continue solving on a different device or if you are browsing in private mode, please press the Save button above the crossword to save your progress manually.
  • New Printable View
    • We have created a more printer-friendly printable page for crosswords.
    • You can now fit a giant crossword on one page (except for conjugation crosswords).
  • ​​​​​​​Number of Words Indicated
    • ​​​​​​​Next to each clue (except in conjugation crosswords), the number of words in the answer is now displayed.
