Verb prefix placement in dependent clauses
<p>When a verb with a separable prefix is used in a <strong>dependent (or subordinate) clause</strong>, the prefix remains attached to the original verb. Dependent clauses can't stand alone, they always depend on the main clause. Conjugated verb forms are always at the end in dependent clauses. Dependent clauses can be introduced by:</p>

<li>a subjunction (<strong style="font-style: italic;">als, bis, dass, obwohl, solange, während, weil, wenn</strong>, etc.):

<li>an indirect question word (<strong style="font-style: italic;">was, wann, warum, wer, wie</strong>, etc.):
